Back in February, we ran a fundraising campaign to cover the costs of our day-to-day operations—a campaign that unfortunately didn't meet its goal.
The reality is, Bitch is already a lean operation. When we fundraise, we're looking for donations, Rage memberships, and subscriptions from the few thousand people who are reading our emails, which go back directly to funding: The production, printing, and mailing of Bitch magazine; the contributor's fees that we pay the writers on bitchmedia.org (and our web hosting fees); stipends for our quarterly Writing Fellows; and the salaries, healthcare, and other benefits we pay our staff.
It's now May, and we need to enter another fundraising campaign, this time to raise $75,000 by May 21. And truthfully, friend, we can't afford to miss another goal. So if you can, make a one-time donation, join The Rage at $8/month, or subscribe to Bitch magazine today.
If just 1,500 people reading this email donated $50, our fundraiser would be over today and we could go back to providing all of the feminist analysis you value so much. We could redirect our staff time back into future projects and collaborations, we could focus on programs that benefit you (like our upcoming Bitch Festival!), and we could relax, knowing that we’ve caught back up to where we need to be by mid-year 2021.
