Joe Biden is the president-elect of the United States, but with Donald Trump still refusing to concede, General Services Administration officials blocking Biden's transition team, and the coronavirus death toll continuing to rise at an alarming rate—we've got one final Bitch 2020 political newsletter to parse all the work that remains to be done. We're taking a look at what the "Latino vote" really means, making plans for how to remain politically engaged through what is sure to be a rocky transition, and—taking a moment to celebrate the progressive wins in down ballot races all over the country. Our partners at Platform are joining us for this final lap in your inboxes to share workshops and tangible next steps we can all take to continue the fight. If you've enjoyed getting the Bitch 2020 politics newsletter every month, don't be a stranger; check out Bitch Media's other newsletters and stay in the loop with us.

The question of why more Latinos didn't vote for Biden and why so many, relatively speaking, did vote for Donald Trump remains a puzzle to cable news pundits and Democrats alike. But for those who know Latinos in real life or who pay attention to Latino journalists, the mixed polling is far less surprising.

Support Local Georgia Power

The 2020 Election was four years in the making, and somehow it’s still not over. This January, Georgia will elect its next United States Senators, but the consequences of that vote will reach far beyond The Peach State. The elected officials Georgians send to Congress will fundamentally shape the power dynamics of the United States Senate and the legislation that does, or does not, get passed as a result of who holds the gavel. Help ensure all eligible Georgia voters have the chance to make their voices heard in January and have a say in their own futures. Check out, learn from, and support the leadership of groups on the ground, including Fair Fight, The New Georgia Project, and Black Voters Matter.

ICYMI: Young people SHOWED UP this election, and young organizers of color were the driving force of that turnout. Now it’s time party leaders and elected officials show up for young people. In Platform’s Our Voices 2020: How Young People Feel About the Democratic Process report, we outlined a playbook of the changes we need in order to make the democratic process more accessible and more representative. Read the report and our call to actions here, then read our Action Guide here.

Bitch Media is an award-winning, nonprofit, feminist media outlet. We're community funded because we believe that there's no for-profit way to make truly independent, intersectional feminist media. If our work has to compete with a self-interested advertiser or a major investor, it's never going to be the kind of world-changing, movement-making, uncompromising work that needs to be done. It'll just be another contract negotiated in a patriarchal world. You like our attitude? Us too.
