Maine Public: Maine College Uncovers COVID-19 Outbreak Through Wastewater Testing

It turns out that what goes down the toilet has useful information when it comes to COVID-19. That’s because the virus can shed into an infected person’s stool days before symptoms develop. Surveillance wastewater testing at St. Joseph's College tipped off school officials to positive cases before students developed symptoms.

Join Maine Public News Producer Robbie Feinberg this coming Thursday at noon as he hosts Dr. Andrew Barton, professor of biology at the University of Maine at Farmington for a ZOOM presentation called "Maine's Forests: Learning from the Past, Planning for a Different Future."

 

This is the first of three lectures exploring how humans have shaped and affected Maine's Rivers, Forests and Ocean. This lecture series is free and open to the public. A panel discussion will follow the presentation. Register HERE in advance.
