Here's What You Can Do About It!
Let’s Get to Work!
Every day, elected officials make legislative decisions about our bodies, lives, and futures— without listening to our voices. It’s time to change that; here are three ways to make your power heard today:

Join the Movement: The BREATHE Act
You can’t bandaid together a broken policing system; that’s why The Movement For Black Lives’ Electoral Justice Project created the BREATHE Act, which proposes “divesting our taxpayer dollars from brutal and discriminatory policing and investing in a new vision of public safety.” Among its many comprehensive provisions, the BREATHE Act would further the work to establish reparations, defund the police, and pilot universal basic income. Though the bill has not yet been introduced in Congress, it has garnered support from Representatives Ayanna Pressley (MA-7) and Rashida Tlaib (MI-13) Learn more and join the movement here.

Our Voices 2020: What Young People Have to Say About the Democratic Process
Political pundits are quick to project, analyze, and shame young people’s voter turnout without ever actually talking to young people directly. So after 36 hours of listening sessions with wonderful partners and young people ages 18-29 from 32 states and Washington, DC, Platform is proud to present Our Voices 2020: What Young People Have to Say About the Democratic Process. This report shares what young people are thinking and feeling as November approaches, breaks down the barriers to entry and on-ramps to political engagement for young people, and outlines the changes we need.

Toxic white feminism exists at the core of the progressive movement. As Black, Indigenous, people of color speak out and work to demand accountability across movement spaces, it’s on white folx to learn how to leverage their power and privilege to ensure their workplaces are actively anti-racist. Join The Melanin Collective on Thursday, September 24 from 6:30 to 8:00 pm ET for “You’ve Got the Power: a no-fragility space to talk about White privilege and power in the workplace for White staff.” Register here.

Bitch Media is an award-winning, nonprofit, feminist media outlet. We're community funded because we believe that there's no for-profit way to make truly independent, intersectional feminist media. If our work has to compete with a self-interested advertiser or a major investor, it's never going to be the kind of world-changing, movement-making, uncompromising work that needs to be done. It'll just be another contract negotiated in a patriarchal world. You like our attitude? Us too.
