Hi!

I’m Mark Simpson, Director of News & Public Affairs here at Maine Public.

First, I want to say thank you for reading The Ten! I’m writing to give you some insight into our news operation here at Maine Public — I hope to update you each week, but I’m also inviting other members of our news staff to participate in my absence.

So, what’s happening in the news? Well, as you have read over recent weeks, what happens in Washington has local ramifications. We're digging into how President Joe Biden's election is affecting our state's GOP.

As always, we're following updates — multiple days a week — from the state Center for Disease Control as we monitor the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, including most recently the developing rollout of our vaccination program.

Maine is also approaching the one year since the start of the COVID-19 outbreak, and our newsroom is planning a Maine Public Deep Dive look at that.

Thanks for reading and I’ll see you again next week!

Best,
