Don’t let these companies fly under the radar

Hi Jeanne,
Today marks day one of the Stop Insuring Trans Mountain Week of Action. From June 14-21, a global movement of people is coming together to turn up the heat on the pipeline’s remaining insurers. We’re kicking things off now by turning the spotlight on Lloyd’s.
The Lloyd’s Marketplace is one of Trans Mountain’s top remaining insurers and it represents dozens of smaller subsidiary companies. These subsidiary companies have so far flown under the radar, but with a bit of public pressure, they could be convinced to drop the pipeline. Argo insurance – a member of the Lloyd’s group – was the first to un-insure Trans Mountain earlier this month, after receiving a flood of emails.
Will you help us turn up the heat on these new targets in the Lloyd’s marketplace by sending top executives an email now, urging them to drop Trans Mountain?
Indigenous-led resistance and mounting public pressure have already pushed 13 companies to rule out coverage for Trans Mountain. That goes to show that people power can move insurance giants, and in doing so, stop massive tar sands pipelines. Every email, every petition signature, every phone call and social media post – it all adds up.
But there are still more than half a dozen companies that are providing insurance coverage to Trans Mountain. That’s why it’s critical we step up the pressure as part of the global week of action. Throughout this whole week, we’ll be sending you opportunities to take powerful actions online to un-insure Trans Mountain, starting today with this one.
So thank you, Jeanne, for being a part of this campaign and part of the Stand online community. Together with allies and following the leadership of Indigenous leaders, we can get the whole insurance industry out of the tar sands, and stop Trans Mountain once and for all.
With hope,
Sven Biggs
