This is just a glimpse of the torment that rabbits endure until the day their throats are slit and they’re skinned or sold for meat—a ghastly end to a nightmarish life for these gentle animals.
On hideous farms in China, rabbits are routinely stretched across boards while workers yank out fistfuls of their fur. Many will spend their entire lives imprisoned inside small cages with no room to dig, jump, or run as they would in nature. After several years of this abuse, those who survive will be hung upside down, their throats will be slit, and their carcasses will then be sold.
Of course, rabbits aren’t the only victims of the international fashion trade. Groundbreaking exposés by PETA and our global affiliates have revealed the misery of many other animals around the world—including snakes killed by being inflated with compressed air in Vietnam, sheep kicked and beaten in Australian shearing sheds, and geese at a down supplier for retailer Canada Goose.
The good news is that our advocacy works. Since PETA Asia first exposed the suffering that rabbits endure in the Chinese angora industry, exports of angora have become a fraction of what they once were. That’s because hundreds of thousands of caring PETA supporters have helped us push more than 300 major retailers to ban angora. And with your help, we’ll keep the pressure on corporate giants like Urban Outfitters to drop all leather, wool, down, and other materials stolen from animals.
We’re committed to helping each and every suffering animal, and today, we need you with us.
