Virginia Prisons Torturing Rodents!

PETA received an urgent complaint that Bland Correctional Center in Virginia has provided inmates with glue traps in an attempt to mitigate rodent populations. After we implored the Virginia Department of Corrections (state headquarters) to halt any such practice immediately, corrections officials indicated that glue traps were in fact being used, and we suspect this means statewide. Our repeated pleas that a policy be established against this method have apparently fallen on deaf ears.

Victims of these sadistic contraptions suffer immensely, succumbing to shock, dehydration, asphyxiation, or blood loss after ripping themselves apart in their frantic struggle to escape the gooey mess. Exhausted and terrified, they can take days to die—in fact, labels instruct users just to toss trapped animals into the garbage! Furthermore, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention cautions against their use, because of the human health risks posed. Glue traps are also indiscriminate, ensnaring countless “nontarget” species every year.

Please politely urge the following Virginia officials to ditch glue traps—then forward this alert to everyone you know.
