Tell Congress: Support the shift to a healthy food system!

Under the current Farm Bill, billions of your tax dollars go to support large-scale monoculture farming that destroys biodiversity, pollutes our air and water and harms pollinators like bees.

But there is another way. The Food and Farm Act will grow the organic agriculture sector and help all farmers adopt conservation practices. It will support young farmers and ranchers and help ensure that everyone has access to nutritious food. And it will invest in the research farmers need to be more resilient to climate change. We need your help to build support for this bill!

Tell Congress: Help farmers grow sustainable, healthy food!

Dear Representative,

As a constituent, I urge you to support the Food and Farm Act, an alternative farm bill that reforms wasteful subsidies and provides farmers with the support they need to produce abundant, healthy food while protecting our soil, water, climate and pollinators.
 
 The Food and Farm Act will realize this vision for a more just and sustainable food system by:
•	Leveling the playing field for family farmers by limiting subsidy payments to 125K per year and restricting subsidy payments for entities making more than $500,000 a year.
•	Protecting soil and water quality by requiring that crop insurance subsidy recipients implement good stewardship practices on their land;
•	Supporting regenerative, organic, pasture-based and humane farming practices that will protect pollinators, build healthy soil and reduce the use of antibiotics and pesticides; 
•	Eliminating conservation subsidies for large factory farm waste facilities;
•	Increasing access to healthy food, especially fruits and vegetables in underserved communities and schools
•	Increasing access to locally and regionally produced meat, dairy and poultry products by supporting infrastructure investments and other assistance for smaller-scale meat and dairy producers. 
•	Protecting farmers from anti-competitive, deceptive and abusive business practices by multinational meat processing companies; 
•	Increasing research for sustainable agriculture, climate resiliency, plant breeding and animal welfare; and
•	Requiring reporting of greenhouse gas emissions from factory farms and commodity crop production.

Once again, I urge you to stand up for rural communities, consumers, animals, and the environment by supporting the Food and Farm Act.
