Are you up for tackling a tome?

... I have thing for tackling the classics, and even more so Classicist classics. Maybe that’s why a story from Vermont Public Radio about a veteran's group looking at ancient Greek stories resonated with me. So here’s my challenge: pick up a piece of classic literature this week and give it a go. I’m always surprised at how relevant many stories written long ago still resonate and what lessons can still be learned today.

Two local stories also stood out to me from our newsroom this week. Susan Sharon highlighted where things stand on Indigenous People’s day in Maine this year. Jen Mitchell covered services for WWII pilot Ernest Vienneau who was laid to rest some 70 years after being lost on a B-17 that went down over the Adriatic Sea. Keep your eyes peeled for an upcoming piece from our visuals team on that!

Offshore wind, examining the carbon cost of flights, and mapping the DNA of the coronavirus round out our platter of stories this week.

Let us know what big read from the past you’re tackling!

Until next time,

Mark
