We live in a diverse...

... and continually diversifying state. I’m always excited to see what our Report For America reporter Ari Snider uncovers as he explores the amazing communities we have here. This week he looks at what rap and hip-hop means for Syrians in Maine.

I’m also thinking about the upcoming COP26 Climate conference which starts next week. Here’s a teaser: in the coming weeks, Maine Public will be exploring climate change and what it means in all our 16 counties. Keep your eyes peeled for that!

It’s been unusually warm these past few weeks, but the Spanish city of Seville is so concerned about the impacts of heat waves, they are going to start naming them, similar to how we name hurricanes.

I also like in this week’s bundle a rethinking of how we deal with time management, a bus ride in Hong Kong that’s meant to put you to sleep (I can never sleep on planes and trains, what about you?), and the pressure facing school board candidates in Maine as our politics become more polarized.

Catch you on the next pass!
