Three West Marin Organizations Fight Offshore Drilling

Among the hundreds of people rallying at California’s capitol last month against President Trump’s offshore drilling plan were three West Marin environmental organizations: Turtle Island Restoration Network, West Marin Environmental Action Committee and Ocean Conservation Research. Read more. 

 

Marin School Hits Water Conservation Milestone! 

While California might be facing another multi-year drought, a Marin County public school has reached a water conservation milestone: over 360,000 gallons of water saved. The water was collected and stored by a single rooftop rainwater collection system at the Lagunitas School. Read more.

 

Turtle Visits Turtle Island Restoration Network

We don't get a lot of turtle visitors at Turtle Island Restoration Network, so it was a real treat to meet this Western pond turtle (or Pacific pond turtle) in Lagunitas Creek behind our headquarters. Read about it on our Facebook page.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • March 3, 10am - 2pm: Habitat Restoration Day We'll be removing invasive plant species, planting native plants and watering plants in the nursery. Meet at 7410 Sir Francis Drake Blvd, Lagunitas, CA 94938. Free coffee and bagels!
  • March 17, 10am - 2pm: Habitat Restoration Day Join us as we restore and re-create riparian habitat that provides much needed shade for young salmon and trout in our local waterways. Activities involve bending, digging and carrying water. Meet at TIRN headquarters. To volunteer, please email [email protected].
  • Every Tuesday, 10am - 1pm: Nursery Volunteer Day Meet at our headquarters near Olema, CA and help care for thousands of native plants and then take a stroll with us as we collect wild seeds. Please join us for a great time with very skilled botanists. Email [email protected].
