Protect 80% of the Amazonia by 2025

255 million hectares of the Amazon rainforest – the size of the entire Mediterranean Sea – is facing imminent danger of deforestation.

The Amazon is vital for the survival of Indigenous cultures and for our fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. Home to more than 500 Indigenous nationalities and groups, it hosts more biodiversity than any other biome on Earth.

Stand.earth is co-coordinating an ambitious new initiative called 80x2025 Amazonia for Life, in partnership with Indigenous leaders from the nine countries in the Amazon, calling on global leaders to sign a declaration to protect 80% of the rainforest by 2025. And we just released a report that shows we still have time to protect the remaining intact parts of the rainforest – but we have to act now.

Here are somethings we can accomplish with your support:

  • Work with experts to develop a diplomatic strategy to influence key global leaders at the upcoming climate meetings;
  • Help bring a delegation of Indigenous leaders directly into climate negotiations in Egypt;
  • Continue to spearhead groundbreaking investigative research that tracks the industries responsible for the destruction of the Amazon;
  • Generate inescapable online presence of pressure on decision makers by running hard-hitting, targeted ads.
