Tell Disney to stop being the villain and stay out of Lighthouse Point

Lighthouse Point is a treasured landmark, rich with biodiversity and geological features. It is home to endangered coral reefs, sharks, fish, and other ocean creatures. It’s even a Marine Protected Area.

But this magic place is under ATTACK by Disney, who plans to build a massive cruise port directly on top of the valuable marine resources and endangered species of Lighthouse Point.

The increase in cruise ship traffic and passengers will cause irreparable damage, pollution, and disruption to sensitive habitats of marine life. We still need 200 more signatures to urge Disney to STOP being the villain and give Lighthouse Point a happily ever after.

Dear Disney,

Lighthouse Point on the island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas is one of the world’s most magical and spectacular natural spots. It is home to endangered species of coral reefs, sharks, and other marine life. Currently, the area is one of the few biodiverse natural locations left in the region -- but your cruise ship project will completely degrade the habitat and ecosystem there.

As a Marine Protected Area, your massive cruise ship port will cause devastating harm to Lighthouse Point, as well as the surrounding ocean, which does not align with the protected status of this beloved location.

The construction of the cruise ship pier and dock that you plan is directly on top of valuable marine resources. The increased traffic and tourism will cause pollution and disrupt these precious marine habitats -- and will completely destroy these iconic coral reefs that are home to so many lives.

Please do not sacrifice the magic of Lighthouse Point and do not be the villain in this story for the sake of corporate greed.

Several cruise ship companies have chosen to rehabilitate areas in the Caribbean that are already degraded to use for their cruise ships, and I am urging you to do the same. Disney, you have the chance to be the hero here and do the right thing.

Please protect Lighthouse Point.
